President William Ruto on Monday chaired a special meeting of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party’s National Governing Council (NGC) at State House, Nairobi.
The high-level forum brought together the party’s top leadership to review the government’s performance and chart UDA’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, convened under Ruto’s leadership as UDA party leader, was attended by Deputy President and Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, governors, Members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and the Senate, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), and members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

Senior party officials, including Governor Isa Timamy, assisted the President in chairing the session.
At the centre of the deliberations was a comprehensive scorecard on the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s manifesto, anchored on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Party leaders were briefed on progress made across the key pillars of the agenda.

The meeting also received a detailed report from the party’s National Elections Board (NEB) on the status of UDA’s ongoing grassroots elections, which are aimed at strengthening internal democratic structures from the ward level upwards.

In a significant political development, the NGC deliberated on and ratified a resolution by the National Executive Committee authorising President Ruto, in his capacity as party leader, to initiate structured negotiations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
