Safaricom Hook and Sprite Train Africa Nazarene University Students on Digital Economy Skills

Safaricom Hook, in partnership with Sprite, has trained students at Africa Nazarene University in Ongata Rongai on digital economy skills, focusing on content creation, monetisation, and financial literacy.

The session, delivered under the ‘Hook’d on Fresh’ masterclass series, aimed to equip students with practical skills to turn social media platforms into income-generating tools while promoting savings and investment habits for long-term wealth creation.

Industry speakers including content creators Carrie Wahu and Tileh Pacbro guided students on building sustainable digital careers, while Safaricom Wealth Management’s Alexander Matheka introduced the Ziidi Money Market Fund and encouraged early investment practices.

Speaking during the session, Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali Kimanthi said the initiative is designed to empower young people through digital platforms.

“Content creation has become such a big deal for young people, and it is only fair that we support them and become the enablers through our platforms, helping them convert what they do into a source of livelihood,” she said.

The initiative forms part of the wider Hook’d on Fresh campaign, which has been rolled out across different institutions, including a recent engagement in Eldoret attended by more than 300 students.

The programme continues to position Safaricom Hook and Sprite as key enablers of youth empowerment in Kenya’s growing digital economy.
