In the legal spotlight, Tanzanian national Bakari Kisalu Maranda faced Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, responding to charges related to his purported representation as an administrator of the late William Alfred Mulwa Mutilangi’s estate. Mulwa, a former Pepsi Director, passed away in New York the previous year.
Despite being adopted by Mulwa, Bakari is accused of unlawfully interfering with Mulwa’s property, specifically a residence within Nairobi’s Green Park estate.
The allegation suggests that Bakari, along with unidentified accomplices, occupied the property without the necessary authorization, infringing on the deceased’s estate.
Bakari pleaded not guilty, refuting any wrongdoing, and was subsequently granted release on a cash bail of 100,000 shillings.
Represented by legal counsel Brian Khaemba, Bakari asserts his claim as the rightful heir to Mulwa’s estate, valued at approximately 500 million shillings.
However, tensions arise as Mulwa’s siblings dispute Bakari’s contention during the court proceedings.
As the legal saga unfolds, the complexities surrounding Bakari’s alleged involvement and his assertions of inheritance rights contribute to the intricacies of the ongoing case.
