Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested ten suspects in Siaya County following an intelligence-led operation targeting violent criminal gangs linked to a wave of robberies and gang rape incidents.
The early morning raid, conducted at around 4 a.m., was triggered by a series of disturbing cases reported on March 17 and 21, 2026. The operation led to the initial arrest of two key suspects, Brian Ochieng, 21, and Titus Omondi, also known as “Tito,” 20, who were found in possession of stolen mobile phones.
According to investi
gators, information obtained during interrogation of the two suspects provided crucial leads, directing officers to gang hideouts in Ulafu, Umala, and Ramba villages.
Follow-up operations in the identified locations resulted in the arrest of eight additional suspects: Julius Odongo Otieno, Elvis Otieno Juma, Castro Odhiambo, Stanley Ochieng alias “Stanoo,” James Otieno Onyango, Stephen Otieno Atieno, Javan Omondi alias “Atego,” and Japhet Shikulu alias “Jeff.” The suspects, aged between 17 and 24, are believed to be part of a coordinated criminal network operating in the area.
During the raids, detectives recovered a cache of crude weapons, including six pangas, a knife, two spotlights, and two dust coats, along with four additional mobile phones suspected to have been stolen. All recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
The suspects are currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
