The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arraigned Ms. Teresia Chepkemoi Chepkwony, a Revenue Collection Assistant at Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, for allegedly using a forged academic certificate to secure public employment.
Investigations revealed that Ms. Chepkwony presented a falsified Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), which enabled her to obtain employment and earn salaries and benefits totaling KES 7.59 million.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) approved charges against her for fraudulent acquisition of public property, deceiving a principal, forgery, and uttering a false document.
She was processed at the Integrity Centre Police Station before being arraigned at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where she pleaded not guilty. The court released her on a cash bail of KES 100,000, with an alternative bond of KES 500,000.
EACC emphasized that the case underscores its ongoing commitment to combating fraud and safeguarding integrity in Kenya’s public service sector.
