The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has seized counterfeit alcohol valued at Ksh 17.5 million in Ruringu, Nyeri County.
The raid targeted Zidane Wines and Spirits, where officials also recovered counterfeit Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps.
NACADA said the operation is part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on illicit alcoholic beverages, which pose serious health risks to consumers while denying the government significant tax revenue.
“The distribution of counterfeit alcohol is not only illegal but also dangerous to public health,” NACADA stated on its social media pages.
The business owner, Lazaro Mengo Ndung’u, is already facing three pending cases related to fake alcohol and will now face additional charges following the seizure.
