Nairobi, June 26, 2025 — Nairobi-based activist Steve Nyaga Kiiria has strongly denied claims circulating on social media that he was previously abducted, terming the allegations false, defamatory, and malicious.
In an exclusive statement, Nyaga clarified: “I have never been abducted by anyone—police, civilian, or otherwise. I have never been threatened in any way.” His comments come in response to a letter reportedly issued by a group calling itself the Action Kenya Social Justice Movement, which alleges he was once abducted and uses the claim to justify a planned protest on July 26.
“Treat such a letter as pure blackmail and lies. It is not in good faith and amounts to defamation against my name,” Nyaga asserted.
He has vowed to take legal action, revealing plans to file an affidavit in court and sue the individuals behind the circulation of the document. Nyaga maintains that he remains safe and has never experienced any form of intimidation, urging the public to disregard the falsehoods being spread online.
The activist emphasized the importance of truthful advocacy, warning that false claims undermine legitimate struggles for justice and human rights
