The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has come out strongly in defense of President William Ruto, portraying him as a symbol of democratic progress and national unity amid growing political rhetoric and opposition criticism.
In a fiery statement issued on Tuesday, Antonellah Kakuko, the party’s Head of Digital Communication, lauded Ruto’s political journey, branding him as a transformative figure who defied traditional norms to ascend to the presidency.
“This is a democratic country—voters decide at the ballot,” Kakuko stated, emphasizing the importance of respecting democratic institutions and processes.
She credited President Ruto with breaking long-held political myths, including the notion that only individuals from powerful families could lead the nation.

“He is the same Ruto who crushed the belief that it’s impossible to win a presidential election fairly, even in the face of negative mobilization,” she added.
Kakuko also took aim at opposition leaders, accusing them of sowing chaos and hiding behind claims of political victimization. She referenced individuals allegedly fleeing the country following President Ruto’s recent remarks warning against unrest.
“President Ruto just said, ‘Enough is enough,’ and already some are fleeing to the U.S., just like Matiang’i and Kinoti did,” she claimed, without providing evidence.
The statement included sharp language, with Kakuko calling those opposed to the government “bloodthirsty fools,” accusing them of attempting to destabilize the nation.

She reiterated the party’s stance that no individual or group would be allowed to plunge the country into disorder.
“Kenya is our motherland and we won’t allow any evil to prevail,” she concluded.
