Bamburi Cement Plc has scaled up its annual Ramadhan Food Drive, reaching approximately 4,000 vulnerable families across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Machakos, and Nairobi counties, impacting nearly 30,000 people during the holy month.
Now in its second year, the programme has become an essential support system for communities facing food insecurity during Ramadhan.
Speaking during the distribution, Tawakal Rajab Sumba, Country Representative of Amsons Group, said:
“This initiative is built on compassion and inclusion. By reaching 30,000 people and expanding to areas such as Matuga, we are strengthening our partnership with communities and reaffirming our commitment to social impact.”
For Muslim families observing the fast from dawn to sunset, the Iftar meal holds deep spiritual significance. However, many low-income households struggle to provide this daily meal. The 2026 programme seeks to ease that burden, helping families break their fast with dignity.
This year, the initiative has extended its support to Kenya Prisons facilities, orphanages, and children’s homes, addressing food insecurity among some of the country’s most vulnerable groups.
The programme was officially launched at Afra Hall in Mombasa, marking the start of food distribution for the fasting period. Families are receiving essential supplies to sustain them throughout Ramadhan.
Launched in 2025 following Bamburi Cement’s acquisition by Amsons Group, the Ramadhan Food Drive has become a flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, reflecting the company’s enduring commitment to community welfare.
