Co-op bank donates Kes 5 million, 16-seater van to the Imani Rehabilitation Center

The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has extended its support to the Imani Rehabilitation Center by contributing Kes 5 million and donating a 16-seater van. The donation is aimed to improve the transportation of sick children between Ngong town and Kenyatta National Hospital. The bank made the announcement through their social media channels. Coop bank said that the Imani Rehabilitation Center, known for its dedication to providing support to abandoned children nationwide, has faced challenges in the past.

The children under their care previously relied on public transportation, leading to difficulties due to their special needs. The official handing-over ceremony was presided over by Mr. Ngumo Kahiga, Head of Marketing and Communication at the Co-operative Bank. Others present includes Ms Gillian Njeru, General Manager and Mar Stephen Soita, Operations Manager from Imani Rehabilitation Center. “Co-operative Bank of Kenya has donated a Ksh 5 Million, 16-seater Van to Imani Rehabilitation Center to facilitate the transportation of sick children to and from Ngong town to Kenyatta National hospital. The rehabilitation center supports abandoned children from across the country. In addition to this philanthropic gesture, the Co-operative Bank recently expanded its reach by inaugurating a new branch in Ugunja, Siaya County. The launch ceremony saw the presence of Siaya Governor, James Orengo, and Opiyo Wandayi, MP and Leader of Minority at the National Assembly of Kenya, who joined in celebrating this milestone.

The bank, expressing its commitment to broadening access to financial services nationwide, emphasized that despite transitioning 90 percent of transactions online, the opening of new branches remains crucial. The bank said that this strategic move is aimed at meeting the needs of the bank’s large base of retail clients, partners, including individuals, SACCOs, and agents who require cash management and other essential support services.
