As Kenyans gear up for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations, Coca-Cola has launched a campaign aimed at engaging travellers on the move. The initiative, part of the global “Share a Coke” campaign, includes giveaways of personalized Coke cans to passengers using public transport.
Whether you’re heading home for the holidays or jetting off for a quick coastal getaway, Coca-Cola wants to make your journey a little more special and a lot more personal.
Over 1,000 Easy Coach passengers travelling to western Kenya and Kampala are being surprised with two Coke cans: one bearing their name and another meant to be shared with a fellow traveller.
At Jambojet check-in counters, passengers flying to Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi, and Kisumu are receiving the same treatment.

“This Madaraka Day, Coca-Cola is bringing a sense of celebration directly to travellers,” said Paul Oloo, Senior Communications Manager at Coca-Cola East and Central Africa.
“It’s about turning simple journeys into shared moments. We believe a small act like sharing a Coke can spark a smile, start a conversation, and remind people that even strangers can feel like friends—especially on a day that celebrates our unity as a nation.”
And that’s the heart of the campaign—connection. In a world where people often travel side by side without ever exchanging a word, Coca-Cola is sparking conversations through a simple, thoughtful gesture.
The campaign is part of the relaunched “Share a Coke” experience, which made a comeback in Kenya this April. Originally introduced in 2011, the campaign now has a fresh Gen Z twist—think personalized experiences, real-life moments, and social sharing.
But it’s not just for people on the move.
Expect to see more “Share a Coke” action in malls, campuses, eateries, and other buzzing public spots across the country. Online, the campaign is gaining traction through the hashtag #ShareaCoke, as users post photos, videos, and stories of their shared Coke moments.
So, if you’re travelling this Madaraka Day, don’t be surprised if a cold Coke and a new friend finds its way to your seat.
