Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has escalated an internal dispute within the Jubilee Party after issuing a formal demand for detailed party records, minutes and constitutional documents tied to contested leadership changes.
In a letter dated May 22, 2026 and addressed to the Party Leader, Wambugu accused the party of failing to provide information he says is critical to resolving disputes currently under review by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
He said the request, first made during a meeting on May 7 and followed by a written letter on May 11, remains unanswered despite assurances that the documentation was readily available.

Wambugu is seeking records relating to several key party processes, including National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, leadership appointments, coalition arrangements, and the handling of internal political structures and forums.
Among the documents requested are minutes and attendance records of a January 22, 2026 NEC meeting, resolutions linked to disputed appointments, and constitutional provisions allegedly relied upon in effecting leadership changes.

He is also seeking clarity on internal party processes involving candidate selection, cooperation agreements, and the status of party-affiliated political forums ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
The former legislator further wants details on the appointment and recognition of party officials, including current NEC membership, financial signatories, and administrative authority structures.
Wambugu, who has copied the letter to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, warned that continued failure to provide the documents risks undermining internal dispute resolution efforts and transparency within the party.

“In the absence of the requested documentation I shall proceed on the basis of the information presently available to me,” he stated, adding that he reserves the right to pursue further remedies under the Party Constitution and the Political Parties Act.
The dispute points to growing internal tensions within Jubilee as competing factions position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election, with questions emerging over governance, authority and decision-making structures within the party.
