For many young people, university life is about attending classes, completing assignments and preparing for a career. For Elphas Yatich, it is also about building character, learning new skills and staying committed to his dreams.
As a Business Information Technology student and a passionate football player, he is working hard to create opportunities for himself while proving that education and talent can grow together.
Elphas believes success is not about quick results or recognition. Instead, he sees success as a journey built on discipline, consistency and the willingness to keep going even when things become difficult. This mindset has helped him stay focused on both his studies and his personal goals, even during challenging times.
Technology has become an important part of his journey. As a Business Information Technology student, he is learning about information systems, business operations and digital solutions that help organisations become more efficient and productive.

He enjoys understanding how technology works and finding ways it can be used to solve everyday problems faced by businesses and communities.
“I enjoy learning new things because every skill I gain increases my chances of creating a better future,” he says.
His interest in technology goes beyond the classroom. Elphas enjoys improving his digital skills, learning new software and exploring how innovation is changing the world of business. He believes that learning should never stop and that people who continue improving themselves are better prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
Away from academics, football plays an important role in his life. The game has taught him valuable lessons that he carries with him every day. Through football, he has learned the importance of discipline, teamwork, leadership and commitment.
He has also learned that success often comes from working together with others rather than relying only on individual effort.
Training sessions require dedication, while matches demand focus and determination. These experiences have helped him become more responsible and better prepared to deal with pressure in other areas of life.
Football has also taught him how to handle disappointment and keep moving forward after setbacks, lessons that are just as important in life as they are in sport.
Balancing university studies and football has not always been easy. There are days filled with lectures, assignments, training sessions and personal responsibilities, leaving very little time to rest. Like many young people trying to build a better future, Elphas has faced moments when the pressure felt overwhelming and the road ahead seemed difficult.
However, he has never allowed those moments to stop him. Instead, he chooses to see challenges as opportunities to become stronger, improve his time management skills and grow as a person. He believes that difficult situations often prepare people for greater opportunities in the future.
Friends, classmates and teammates describe him as hardworking, dependable and eager to learn. He values advice from others and believes there is always room for improvement no matter how much someone has achieved. He also appreciates the support he receives from the people around him and understands that success is rarely achieved alone.
Looking ahead, Elphas hopes to build a successful career in Information Technology while continuing to pursue his passion for football. He wants to use his knowledge and skills to help businesses and communities solve problems through technology.
At the same time, he hopes his journey will encourage other young people to follow their education while continuing to develop their talents and passions.
He believes Kenya’s young people have great potential but need more opportunities in education, technology, sports and employment. According to him, investing in young people and helping them develop their skills is one of the best ways to build a stronger future for the country.
For Elphas Yatich, success is not about where someone starts in life but about the effort they are willing to make and the determination they show along the way. His journey continues one class, one training session and one challenge at a time, with each experience helping him move closer to his goals.
His message to other young people is simple: “Never let where you are today limit where you can be tomorrow. Stay disciplined, keep learning, trust the process and believe in yourself. Every challenge is preparing you for something greater.”
For Elphas Yatich, the future is not something to wait for. It is something to build through hard work, determination and the courage to keep moving forward.
