Murang’a governor Irungu Kang’ata has broken his silence following a Nation/NTV report regarding compensation for Kenyan victims of the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing crash.
He strongly defended his role, stating, “All real victims whom we represented in the United States got paid, and NONE has complained.”
Kang’ata clarified that none of the eight individuals mentioned in the media report received compensation, as they were not his clients.

“This is a 2019 issue that was duly closed, and all compensation relating to my clients—Kenya accident victims—was paid,” he stated via Facebook.
He further dismissed claims of personal benefit, insisting that his involvement brought no financial gain.
“My Senate debate on the issue did not confer any gain either to myself or purported staff,” he wrote.
