Jubilee Splinter Group maintains they are in government to stay

Jubilee sprinter group on Sunday attended an interdenominational church service in Nakuru where President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

The group was led by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega, Sabina Chege (nominated), Samuel Arama, Adan Keynan, Naomi Shaban, Jimmy Angwenyi, and Nelson Dzuya.

Nakuru governor Susan Kihika was the host and rallied president Ruto to initiate projects in the County.

Kanini Kega said that they will support president Ruto’s administration and urged fellow Jubilee supporters to follow suite.

“By the mere fact that we are here, it shows that we recognize that the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya is none other than William Samoei Ruto. I have come here as the Secretary General of the (Jubilee) party,” he said.

Kanini said that the 34 jubilee members in the National assembly and Senate will work with the government of the day.

They said their party has a close relationship with the President, and all they have done is “to come back home”.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua urged Jubilee leaders not to be intimidated and that they should work with the government.

Gachagua said they will protect Jubilee leaders once they will be intimidated by their masters.

He urged president Ruto to work with every leader for the sake of the unity and growth of the Country.

“I would like to request Jubilee leaders to stand strong and work with the government and they should not buy fear as we passed the same threats to be who we are today,” Gachagua said.

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa expressed the commitment to working with Jubilee members in the national assembly.

Ichungwa assured Sabina of retaining her position in the parliament.

About two weeks ago, more than 30 Jubilee MPs pledged to work with the Government to advance its development agenda.

They said this when they visited the head of state at the state house.

The President during the state house visit said it was inevitable for leaders to work together, noting that “the people who elected you are the same people who elected us”.

“You have a right to make choices as Kenya is a democratic country. You are now our members and we will treat you as such,” the President said.

He noted that Parliament is a critical platform for enacting laws on the Government’s agenda.

“We will be seeking your support on Bills and regulations on the Housing Fund, Water Purchasing Agreements, among others,” President Ruto said.

On Saturday, former president and Jubilee party leader Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Uhuru who is Jubilee’s leader affirmed that the party is fully in Azimio la Umoja coalition.

“Ata kama hatuko siasa active, bado tuko kwa ile chama tulikuwa nayo na bado tunaendelea kuunga Azimio mkono.Hakuna mambo yamebadilika,” he said.

Uhuru further dared the Jubilee rebels who claimed that he should cease active in party politics.

“I may be retired but I am not tired,” he said.

His sentiments were backed by Opposition leader Raila Odinga who affirmed that Jubilee Party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has not been axed.

However, Kioni insisted that he is still the Jubilee secretary general despite the National Executive Committee suspending him.
