Kenya Cultural Centre Host World Arts Day Celebrations in Nakuru

The Kenya Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the Kenya National Theatre, is hosting this year’s national World Arts Day celebrations in Nakuru County on April 14th and 15th, 2025, at the Nakuru Showground.

The event, themed “Empowering Communities Through Creativity,” will showcase Kenya’s vibrant arts scene, highlighting the transformative power of culture in fostering inclusive and dynamic societies. Nakuru County was selected as this year’s host due to its rich cultural diversity and growing influence in Kenya’s creative economy.

The two-day event will feature competitions in poetry, dance, music, monologues, deejay sets, acrobatics, percussion, visual arts, culinary arts, fashion, and short films. Preliminary rounds will take place on April 14th, with winners announced at a grand finale and awards ceremony on April 15th. Each category winner will receive a cash prize of Ksh. 100,000.

Beyond performances, the event will include workshops and forums on art entrepreneurship, youth talent development, and cultural preservation. These sessions aim to equip artists with skills to professionalize their craft, access markets, and enhance their livelihoods.
