Mobile phone manufacturers targeting the Kenyan market will now be required to adopt USB Type-C charging ports, following the introduction of new standards by the Communications Authority of Kenya.
The directive signals a major shift in how mobile devices and electronic gadgets are designed and sold ქვეყანაში, as regulators move to enforce a single, uniform charging system across the market.

Under the new requirements, all mobile phones and compatible devices must support USB Type-C technology. This effectively phases out older charging systems, meaning devices that rely on alternative ports will no longer meet the set standards.
The move is expected to enhance consumer convenience by reducing the need for multiple chargers, while also aligning Kenya with global trends toward standardized charging solutions.
Industry players will now have to adjust their product designs to comply with the directive or risk being locked out of the Kenyan market.
The Communications Authority says the changes are part of broader efforts to streamline technology standards, improve interoperability, and reduce electronic waste associated with obsolete accessories
