Kindiki Highlights Sh47 Billion Housing and Market Investments in Nakuru

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has highlighted Sh47 billion in housing and market investments in Nakuru County, as the government advances projects aimed at expanding access to affordable homes and improving facilities for traders.

Kindiki said the investments under the Housing Fund cover 17 affordable housing projects, 19 institutional housing projects and 29 market projects across the county.

The Deputy President made the remarks on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during a development tour of Njoro Constituency, where he inspected construction works on three markets nearing completion.

The Nesuit, Mauche and Kihingo markets are being constructed at a cost of Sh55 million, Sh56 million and Sh65 million, respectively.

“Using the Housing Fund, 47 billion shillings has been deployed in Nakuru County on 17 affordable housing, 19 institutional housing and 29 market projects,” Kindiki said.

Across Nakuru County, 25 markets are currently under construction, while four others are planned under the government’s programme to improve trading infrastructure.

The ongoing market projects have a cumulative cost of Sh2.3 billion, while the four planned facilities are expected to cost an additional Sh715 million.

The investments bring together housing development and commercial infrastructure, with markets expected to provide traders with improved working spaces while housing projects target residential and institutional needs.

The three markets in Njoro are nearing completion, although the Deputy President did not provide specific dates for their opening.

The government has continued to pursue housing and market development through the Housing Fund, positioning the projects as part of its broader strategy to expand infrastructure and support economic activity at the county level.
