Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected the construction of a 40-kilometre road in Nakuru County, with the government targeting the tarmacking of 870 kilometres of roads across the county at a cost of Sh38 billion.
Kindiki inspected the ongoing works on the Njoro-Beeston-Nesuit/Beeston-Lawina-Elburgon Road in Lawina, Njoro Constituency, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The road is being tarmacked at a cost of Sh2 billion as part of the government’s wider infrastructure development programme.

The Deputy President said the government had also commenced rehabilitation of the 120-kilometre Mauche-Bombo-Olenguruone-Kaptagich-Silibwet Road at a cost of Sh3.3 billion.
The two projects are among the roads earmarked for improvement under the government’s programme to expand and upgrade transport infrastructure across Nakuru County.
Kindiki said road infrastructure was a fundamental enabler of national transformation and economic growth, highlighting the government’s continued investment in connectivity.
“The Government has determined road infrastructure as one of the fundamental enablers of national transformation and economic growth,” he said.
He added that the road construction programme was proceeding equitably across the country under the Usawa ni Sawa Initiative.
The projects are expected to improve transport links in the affected areas, ease the movement of people and goods, and support economic activities within Nakuru County.
The government has continued to prioritise road construction and rehabilitation as part of its broader infrastructure agenda, with the Nakuru projects forming part of the planned expansion of the country’s road network.
