Kindiki Steps Up Mt Kenya Political Outreach as He Takes Government Agenda to Kiambu

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has stepped up his political and development engagements in Kiambu, using a public meeting in Limuru to highlight the government’s agenda while calling on residents to embrace unity and reject political violence.

Kindiki spoke in Limuru after flagging off milk coolers destined for dairy farmers’ cooperatives across Kiambu County, with his address extending beyond the dairy sector to touch on agriculture, infrastructure, national cohesion and the broader political direction of the Mt Kenya region.

The Deputy President said the government was focused on fulfilling its development commitments to farmers and improving infrastructure, arguing that agriculture remains central to Kenya’s economic transformation and efforts to create employment opportunities.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, a key determinant of Kenya’s success in its quest to industrialize, create jobs and provide more income opportunities for the people,” Kindiki said.

The Limuru engagement comes as Kindiki increases his presence across Mt Kenya, where he has continued to combine government development activities with calls for regional unity and peaceful political engagement.

His message on unity comes at a time when political activity in the region is gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election, with competing political camps seeking to strengthen their grassroots networks and influence across Mt Kenya.

Kindiki urged residents to reject politically instigated violence, stressing the need for peaceful political competition and national cohesion as the country moves towards the next election.

The Deputy President also called for greater support for efforts to combat illicit brews, linking the campaign to the protection of families and the social and economic wellbeing of communities.

The government has increasingly placed agriculture and value addition among its priorities, with dairy development forming part of efforts to improve productivity and strengthen farmers’ incomes.

Kindiki was accompanied by several Kiambu leaders, including Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Limuru MP Chege Kiragu, Kiambaa MP Njuguna Kawanjiku, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Lari MP Mburu Kahangara.

The Limuru meeting further placed Kindiki at the centre of the government’s outreach in Kiambu, combining the delivery of development projects with a political message focused on unity, stability and continued engagement with residents.
