Mount Kenya foundation and leadership from MAA community have declared support for former prime minister Raila Odinga.
The leaders met at Safari park hotel where they signed a memorandum of understanding.
Among those who attended the event includes James Nyoro (Kiambu), Anne Kananu (Nairobi), Joseph Ole Lenku ( Kajiando) and Environmental cabinet secretary Keriako Tobiko.
Others in the list include. Murang’a women representative Sabina Charge, Kiambu MP Jude Njomo and delegates from MAA community.
Speaking during the event, Mount Kenya foundation chairman Peter Munga rallied Kenyans to support Raila.
Munga said that Kenyans will be safe in the hand of Raila Odinga.
“We are safe in the hands of Raila Odinga and that is why we are reaching out to other community leaders,” he said.
Raila Odinga on his part said that castigated the politics of Madoadoa.
He said that Kenyans have constitutional rights to live and work all over Kenya.
He called on leaders to shun politics of hatred.
“Kenya belong to all of us and we should work together to make it modern by having electricity, health and proper education for our children,” he said.
He cited the Korean economy that has grown tremendously noting that the Kenyan economy is also set to change.
He said that Kenyans should not be divided alongside their ethnicity.
“We can make the Country great if we can shun politics of hatred and I promise you, Kenya will change,” Odinga said.
He said Kenyans can unite and champion a common agenda.
Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko said that the region does not doubt supporting the former prime minister.
He said that Odinga has been very instrumental in uniting Kenyans.
Kajiando Governor Joseph Ole Lenku said that the people of Mount Kenya and MAA community are fully behind Raila Odinga and they will work together to ensure that Raila Odinga is elected as the next president of the republic of Kenya.
“On behalf of MAA community we will work with Odinga and leaders we have agreed to campaign for him,” he said
Lenku said that the community has never let down Raila Odinga recalling that they were first to pass the BBI at the County level.
Micheal Mugo who is deputy vice-chairman Kiama Kiama challenged the leaders across the country to preach peace.
Mugo said that the unity of Kenyans is key to the development of the economy.
He said that the Council has been working closely with Azimio la Umoja in the Mount Kenya region.
Kiambu governor James Nyoro who two weeks ago hosted Raila in Thika town, Kiambu County said the region is fully behind the Azimio la Umoja.
Nyoro said that Raila will get about 60 per cent of Mount Kenya votes.
“We need 60 per cent votes from Mount Kenya region and this we will guarantee you, “Nyoro said.
Nairobi governor Anne Kananu called on Raila to support women leadership.
He called leaders to work together for the sake of Raila Odinga and end their differences.
The meeting with MAA community comes a month after the MKF officials held a meeting with leaders from North Eastern Kenya who also agreed to work together.
The North Eastern leaders said that they will push for the narrative of Azimio la Umoja.
The MKF has planned to hold meetings with leaders in all the Counties in Kenya.
The officials held a meeting last year and endorsed Raila Odinga as the best heir of Uhuru Kenyatta.
They said that President Uhuru Kenyatta is aware of all the meetings the officials are holding.
The officials last week held a meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta alongside elected leaders supporting Azimio la Umoja
