Customers remain the focal point in the expansion process by Kenya’s retail giant, Naivas Supermarket.
This has been emphasized by the retailers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andreas Von Paleske during the opening of its latest store in the Mihang’o area of Nairobi.
According to Andreas, the expansion is guided by the communities they serve underscoring the retailers commitment to bringing quality and affordability closer to more Kenyan households.
“Bringing Customers real value and great offers are at the centre point of our expansion as our future growth is dependent on the customer base and the close relationship with suppliers who we work with to ensure we have sustainable propositions today, tomorrow and the next five years and beyond,” the CEO explained.
He revealed that they pointed out the need for the new store because the area is underserved by their Utawala Store adding that it is bit distant.
“The target customers are from the Mihang’o and Utawala areas though there is another store there. We felt the area is under served hence the new store,’ he shared.
This is even as he shared plans of them strengthening the retailers digital footprints through their e-commerce and App with partnerships with other dealers to ensure customers are served on a timely basis.
“We shall be looking into improving our digital footprint by improving our e-commerce website and app in the near future and that is available across the country even as we look into partnering with other players like Glovo and Uber for timely service to the customers,” he stated.
Andreas shared that the leading retailer works closely with farmers who are part of their big suppliers adding that growth of Naivas has also been powered by strong relationships with suppliers across the country.

“We work closely with the farmers who are amongst our big suppliers,” he stated.
Confirming the statement, Raju Gudhka, CEO of Debenham & Fear said the constituency and commitment to uplift the retail sector by the retail giant is what makes them as suppliers to be part of their success journey
“The vision, consistency, and commitment to uplifting the retail sector by Naivas is commendable and as suppliers, we are proud to be part of this journey. Each new branch, including Mihang’o strengthens the retail value chain and ensures that more consumers have access to quality products at
fair prices. We congratulate Naivas on this incredible milestone,” he said.
To ensure sustainability, Andreas pointed out that they are working hard to ensure the reduction of waste products especially from food.
“On sustainability, we are working hard to reduce waste in particular food waste products by ensuring all products nearing expiry dates are marked to avoid waste,” he stated.
