Newline Media Bridges the Gap Between Classroom Learning and Practical Media Skills

Newline Media is equipping young people with practical skills and industry exposure in journalism, broadcasting and digital media to help prepare them for opportunities in the evolving media industry.

The initiative bridges the gap between classroom learning and workplace experience by giving trainees hands-on training using professional media equipment and engaging them in practical media production activities.

Faith Mukundi, Managing Director and Training Partner at Newline Media, said the organisation aims to equip young people with the technical skills and confidence to navigate the industry and create their own opportunities.

“Finding a traditional job in media right now is tough because there are not enough opportunities for everyone coming out of school. Our focus is not only on theory. We want students to gain practical skills and confidence that can help them create opportunities for themselves,” said Mukundi.

She further said that the attachment program targets both Universities and college students noting that the institution is accredited to offer the quality practical trainings.

Mukundi pleaded with students to allows pay attentions to their attachment period noting most the students normally seek attachment because its mandatory from their school for them to graduate.

“I would plead with students in universities and colleges not to do attachment for the sake of graduating, they should use opportunity to gain relevant skills and enough exposure,” she said.
