Delegates of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party from the Dagoretti North Sub-county have today issued a strong condemnation of area MP Beatrice Elachi’s decision to contest Hon. Moses Ogeto’s recent victory at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal. The delegates, speaking to the media, labeled the move a “direct affront” to the party’s internal structures and a sign of disloyalty.
Led by Mr. Ibrahim, the delegates dismissed Elachi’s petition as a “mockery of the ODM Party’s values and democratic processes.” They stated that the MP’s choice to bypass the party’s well-established internal dispute resolution mechanism demonstrates her lack of loyalty to the ODM.
“We have a well-established internal dispute resolution mechanism, but Elachi has chosen to ignore it entirely. This only proves that she is not loyal to ODM. As delegates, we are not surprised by her actions,” said Mr. Ibrahim.
The delegates were unanimous in their support for Hon. Ogeto, insisting that his win was legitimate and a true reflection of the will of the party’s grassroots members. They emphasized that the recent elections were “peaceful, free, fair, and credible” and declared their readiness to “defend that outcome in court if necessary.”
In a final statement, the delegates called upon the party’s leadership to take note of Elachi’s actions, stating that she has “positioned herself as an enemy of ODM’s progress.”
