In Kisii County, the government is rolling out Sh30 billion worth of investments targeting key sectors. These include the construction of 15,000 affordable housing units, Sh2.5 billion modern tertiary student hostels, and four state-of-the-art markets valued at Sh2.4 billion.

“These housing projects will not only provide shelter but also create thousands of jobs for our youth while spurring economic activities across Kisii,” the President added.

In neighboring Nyamira County, equally ambitious projects valued at over Sh16 billion are set to transform the local economy. They include the development of 7,000 affordable housing units, construction of student hostels, and establishment of three modern markets to boost trade and economic growth.

Additionally, more than 32,000 households across the two counties will be connected to reliable electricity.

“Electricity is a game-changer. It will expand business opportunities, support small industries, and empower families with modern tools to thrive,” said Ruto.
