Why EACC Arrested the KRA Officials Faith Gathoni Njoroge and Tyson Marango Owuor

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers over allegations of bribery linked to the handling of a tax dispute.

According to EACC, the officers—Faith Gathoni Njoroge and Tyson Marango Owuor—allegedly demanded KSh3 million from a taxpayer in exchange for influencing the resolution of a Capital Gains Tax assessment worth KSh4.5 million.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged with the anti-graft agency by the taxpayer. EACC then mounted an operation during which the two suspects were allegedly caught receiving KSh900,000, said to be the first installment of the demanded bribe.
