Passengers claim the bus was overcrowded and that the crew appeared disorganized and confrontational shortly after departure. Less than a kilometre into the journey, an altercation allegedly broke out, during which Mureithi was pushed out of the moving vehicle.
In a chilling turn of events, witnesses say the same bus ran over him moments later before speeding off, leaving him critically injured by the roadside.
Good Samaritans rushed him to Shalom Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since arrested the driver and conductor in connection with the incident. Detectives also pursued and impounded the bus, registration number KDK 060H, which was later towed to Athi River Police Station for inspection as investigations continue.
