Three individuals, including an Embakasi East Member of County Assembly (MCA), have been arrested following a police operation that led to the recovery of an illegally held firearm in Nairob
The suspects, identified as Patrick Karani, Stephen Kimathi Karimoni, and Stanley Njogu Irungu, were apprehended during a raid conducted by detectives at an office in the Roasters area. Authorities recovered a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to preliminary investigations, the firearm was allegedly being possessed without a valid license, raising concerns about unlawful weapons in civilian hands.
The suspects were immediately taken into custody as detectives launched further investigations into the source and intended use of the weapon. The recovered firearm and ammunition have since been secured as exhibits pending court proceedings.
Law enforcement officials say the trio is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are finalized and the necessary legal processes are completed.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reiterated its commitment to combating illegal firearm possession, warning that individuals found violating firearms laws will face legal consequences.
Authorities have emphasized that unauthorized possession of firearms remains a serious threat to public safety and national security, and urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities involving weapons.
Illegal Firearm Crackdown Intensifies
The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the circulation of illegal firearms across the country. Detectives have intensified intelligence-led operations targeting individuals suspected of possessing weapons unlawfully, as part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety.
