Former Nyeri Town MP and 2027 Jubilee Party aspirant, Ngunjiri Wambugu, has accused former Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua of deliberately targeting Jubilee MPs ahead of 2027.
In a statement shared on his social media, Wambugu said the strategy appears aimed at recruiting strong candidates to Gachagua’s new party .
“Jofri going for Jubilee MPs he de-campaigned in 2022 & having them defect to his new party is coz they are considered strong candidates for 2027. It is their right to defect to a party of their choice but it shows Jofri intention to weaken Jubilee by 2027,” he said.

Wambugu warned that the move could undermine Jubilee’s political base in the region and complicate efforts to consolidate party support in Mt Kenya.

He urged Jubilee leadership to monitor the defections closely and devise strategies to retain its strong candidates while preparing for the upcoming elections.

The former MP’s remarks come amid growing concerns about political realignments in the region.
