Detectives from the DCI Headquarters Land Fraud Investigation Unit have arrested former Mathioya MP Francis Njakwe Githiari over an alleged land fraud scheme involving Sh6.4 million.
According to investigators, Githiari entered into an agreement with a couple for the sale of a parcel of land in Ngong and the construction of a double-storey house on the property.

The project, valued at Sh40 million, was to be paid in instalments, with the couple initially depositing Sh6.4 million into Githiari’s account.
Trouble began when the couple, during routine visits to the construction site, learned of ownership disputes surrounding the land. Reports indicated that other parties had filed claims asserting ownership of the property, prompting the couple to stop further payments.
Investigations by detectives later established that the former MP had allegedly obtained the money through false pretences.
The case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which approved charges against Githiari for obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code.
Githiari was arrested at his Karen residence and is expected to appear before the Milimani Law Courts on May 15, 2026.
