The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has cautioned political leaders against making statements that could undermine public trust in the 2027 General Election.
In a strongly worded press release, the electoral body expressed concern over recent claims by some political actors suggesting that the presidential election could be influenced through unlawful means.
IEBC warned that such remarks risk creating anxiety within the country’s electoral environment and could negatively affect confidence in the credibility and independence of the electoral process.
The commission described the claims as irresponsible and misleading, adding that they have the potential to fuel unnecessary political tension ahead of the next polls.
IEBC has called on Kenyans to remain calm and avoid amplifying statements that may compromise national cohesion or cast doubt on the integrity of future elections.
The electoral body reiterated its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in accordance with the Constitution and electoral laws.
