John Mwaura Celebrates DCP’s Ol Kalou Victory, Says ‘Journey Has Just Started’

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant John Mwaura has celebrated the party’s victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, describing it as the beginning of a broader political journey ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement following the election of Sammy Kamau Ngotho as the new Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, Mwaura congratulated the MP-elect and praised the party leadership and campaign team for delivering the win.

“Congratulations Sammy Kamau. Well done,” Mwaura said.

He reserved special praise for DCP party leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying the victory reflected the strength and unity of the party’s leadership.

“Strong and kudos to our Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, Secretary General Hon. John Methu, Chairman Hon. Maina Kamanda, Hon. Wanjiku Muhia, Hon. Karungo wa Thangwa and all honorable members who were involved, the honorable people of Ol Kalou and the entire DCP brigade for the win,” he said.

Mwaura described the result as only the beginning of the party’s political journey, adding, “The journey has just started.”

The Ol Kalou by-election was widely viewed as a political contest between President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Gachagua’s DCP, with the outcome expected to influence political alignments in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ngotho’s victory has energized Gachagua’s allies, who see the result as evidence of growing support for the former Deputy President’s political movement in the region.
