The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially released the university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placement results for students who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, marking a significant milestone for thousands of learners preparing to join institutions of higher learning.
Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba said he is pleased to announce that KUCCPS has successfully completed the 2026/2027 placement cycle for students joining universities and colleges.
“Since 2014, when we began centralized placement under the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, there has been significant growth and advancement in the placement process,” Ogamba said.
According to KUCCPS, successful candidates have been placed in public and private universities, TVET institutions, teacher training colleges, and other tertiary institutions across the country.
A total of 980,535 students who sat the 2025 KCSE examination were eligible to apply for placement into programmes and institutions of their choice. Of these, 268,729 attained a mean grade of C+ and above, making them eligible for degree programmes.
The Commission for University Education approved a total of 327,157 vacancies in 43 public and 33 private universities for the 2026/2027 placement cycle.
Overall, 293,869 students have been placed in Degree, Diploma (Level 6), Craft Certificate (Level 5), and Artisan Certificate (Level 4) programmes across tertiary and higher education institutions.
Education stakeholders have encouraged students to embrace every opportunity available to them, emphasizing that their future is not determined by the institution they attend but by the effort they invest in their studies and careers.
“Placement is not the end of your dream but the beginning of your future. Whether you have been admitted to a university or a TVET institution, success will not be determined by where you study, but by the determination, discipline, and hard work you put into your journey,” an education expert said following the release of the results.
Students have been advised to log into the KUCCPS portal using their KCSE index numbers and personal details to confirm their placements and begin preparations for admission to their respective institutions.
