United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah is expected to congratulate Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho after he is declared the winner of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, sources familiar with the matter have indicated.
According to the sources, Nyagah is preparing a concession message acknowledging the outcome of the closely watched contest and pledging to respect the will of the voters once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) formally announces the results.
The Ol Kalou by-election has attracted national attention after evolving into a political showdown between President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s camp, with political observers viewing it as a test of influence in Nyandarua County and the wider Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
State House digital strategist Dennis Itumbi had earlier signalled acceptance of the likely outcome, congratulating Ngotho and stating: “We did what we could. We lost today. There is tomorrow.”
By the time of publication, the IEBC had not formally declared the winner of the by-election.
