Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is expected to address the nation following the declaration of Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho as the winner of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate that Gachagua is preparing a statement after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) formally announced the results, in what is being viewed as a significant political victory for his camp in the Mt Kenya region.
The Ol Kalou contest had evolved into a high-stakes political battle between allies of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Gachagua-backed forces under DCP, with the outcome closely watched as an indicator of shifting political influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Details of Gachagua’s address, including the timing and venue, had not been officially communicated by the time of publication.
