The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) has officially launched the nationwide rollout of the second mandatory classroom training under the NYOTA Project’s Business Support Component.
The training is being conducted simultaneously across all 290 constituencies at 454 mapped training centres with more than 6,000 trainers engaged to facilitate the training sessions.
This phase of training comes after the recently concluded mentorship programme, which demonstrated strong entrepreneurial commitment among youth, with 97 percent of beneficiaries who received the first tranche of start-up capital actively participating in the mentorship sessions. Of these, an impressive 99 percent have already established their businesses.
The Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Wycliffe Oparanya attended the training session at Ngurubani, Mwea where he commended the trainers and encourage the entrepreneurs to continue with the training so as to get the necessary skills.

“NYOTA project has already transformed your lives as entrepreneurs, and as young people, the knowledge and skills you will get from these trainings will ensure you build sustainable businesses, ensuring none of you is left behind,” said the Cabinet Secretary.
The current classroom business training is specifically designed to address business skills gaps identified during the mentorship phase, equipping beneficiaries with the knowledge and tools necessary to strengthen and grow their businesses.
All beneficiaries who successfully completed the mentorship programme are required to attend the training. Completion of this phase is a key requirement for progression within the project, including eligibility for the second tranche of start-up capital and entry into the next phase of mentorship.
