A suspected drug trafficking operation was disrupted in Vihiga County after police officers intercepted a vehicle carrying packages believed to contain cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang.
The operation, conducted by officers from Cheptulu Police Station, followed credible intelligence reports and was carried out along the Chavakali–Kapsabet Highway in Tiriki East Sub-County.

According to police, the vehicle was stopped in the Musasa area, where a thorough search led to the discovery of several packages of green plant material wrapped in yellow cellotape and concealed in different compartments of the vehicle. The substance is suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The driver was arrested and taken into custody as investigations continue. Authorities say the suspect will face appropriate legal action upon completion of the probe.
The National Police Service praised members of the public for providing information that aided the successful operation, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and other crimes.
