She emphasised that MSMEs remain the most reliable pathway to closing the country’s annual deficit of 800,000 jobs, noting that the NYOTA Project is intentionally structured to equip young Kenyans with the skills, capital, and ecosystem support they need to build sustainable, job-creating enterprises.
In Makadara Constituency, PS Mang’eni visited the training centre at Rabai Road Primary School, where 230 youth from Hamza, Viwandani, Harambee and Makongeni wards were undertaking an intensive four-day classroom program. She later proceeded to Kamukunji Constituency, a major commercial hub in Nairobi County, where 316 trainees drawn from Pumwani, Eastleigh North, California, Eastleigh South and Airbase wards were also undergoing the NYOTA Business Support training.
PS Susan Mangeni noted that Nairobi County’s vibrant trading environment presents immense opportunities for the youth, and the training will empower them to participate meaningfully in the constituency’s dynamic value chains.
PS Mang’eni announced that upon completion of the classroom training, the phased disbursement of the NYOTA start-up grant will begin immediately.
