The Second Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) between Uganda and Kenya culminated in a resolute pledge to fortify cooperation and amplify bilateral relations.
Led by Hon. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi E.G.H., Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya, and Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, the delegations discussed a wide array of issues spanning foreign affairs, security, economics, and socio-cultural sectors.
Acknowledging the disruptive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which necessitated the postponement of the originally slated 2021 meeting, both parties expressed gratitude for the dedicated efforts of officials from both nations in ensuring the successful convening of the session.

Emphasizing the historical ties that bind the two nations, the duo underscored the significance of continuing to deepen political, economic, and socio-cultural relations.
Speaking, Musalia Mudavadi conveyed Kenya’s appreciation for the reception received by the delegation.
Musalia Mudavadi, extending Kenya’s appreciation for the warm reception, commended Uganda for its successful hosting of the NAM Summit and G77 summit, as well as assuming the chairmanship of these significant organizations in January 2024.
Looking to the future, the delegates concurred on the establishment of a robust Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism aimed at ensuring the swift implementation of decisions taken during the JMC sessions.
Additionally, they welcomed the proposition for a joint technical committee meeting to address any lingering trade and investment issues, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Reaffirming their commitment to deepen bilateral ties, the ministers concluded by announcing that Kenya will host the Third Session of the JMC in 2026, further solidifying the enduring friendship between the two East African nations
