Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stated that Uganda is ready to support Israel amid its ongoing conflict with Iran, in remarks that have sparked regional and international attention.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Gen. Kainerugaba expressed strong solidarity with Israel, emphasizing historical and ideological ties between Uganda and the Jewish state. He indicated that Uganda would stand with Israel during the escalating tensions.
The outspoken military chief, who currently heads the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has previously made bold foreign policy remarks on global conflicts, often using his personal platforms to communicate positions that generate widespread debate.
While his latest comments signal support for Israel, it remains unclear whether they reflect an official position of the Ugandan government or his personal stance, as similar past statements have at times been treated as individual opinions rather than formal policy.
Gen. Kainerugaba, the son of long-serving President Yoweri Museveni, has in the past drawn attention for his strong and sometimes controversial views on international affairs.
His latest remarks come at a time of heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with global leaders closely monitoring developments and calling for restraint to prevent further escalation.
