Veteran Kenyan gospel singer Mary Atieno has received a life-changing gift after a well-wisher presented her with a spacious three-bedroom house in Buru Buru Phase 5 in Nairobi.
The house, estimated to be worth about KSh11 million, was gifted to the celebrated musician by author Larry Liza just days after she emotionally opened up about her financial struggles during a church service.

Mary had moved many Kenyans when she shared her challenges with paying rent while speaking during the service. Her testimony quickly spread online and triggered an outpouring of sympathy and support from members of the public who praised her long contribution to gospel music.
In early March 2026, the house was officially handed over to the singer. Larry Liza, accompanied by gospel musician Kambua, toured the property in a video that later circulated widely on social media.
The home includes three main bedrooms and an extension with two additional rooms, offering ample space for Mary and her family. However, the house is currently unfurnished as she prepares to settle into the new residence.
Larry explained that he financed the purchase using a combination of personal savings and a loan, noting that he felt inspired to honour the singer for her decades of service in gospel music. He described Mary as a gospel legend whose music has inspired and uplifted many people over the years.
According to Larry, the gesture was meant to appreciate the singer’s contribution to the gospel industry and to ensure she enjoys a more comfortable life as she approaches retirement later this year.
Following the handover, both Larry Liza and Kambua appealed to well-wishers to continue supporting the singer by donating furniture and other household items to help make the new house fully comfortable for her and her family.
