National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has intensified campaigns for President William Ruto’s re-election, urging young people in Bungoma County to support the Kenya Kwanza administration in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of youths at his Bungoma rural home, Wetang’ula said the country’s development agenda requires continuity and called on young voters to turn out in large numbers to back President Ruto for a second term.
The Speaker told the youths that the government had initiated major infrastructure projects that are expected to transform the country’s economy, including the dualling of the Mau Summit–Rironi Highway and the planned extension of the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to Malaba.
“Today, I had the privilege of hosting a delegation of young people at my rural home in Bungoma, where we held a candid and productive discussion on their role in shaping the future of our nation,’ he said in a statement.
According to Wetang’ula, the projects will boost trade, improve transport efficiency, create employment opportunities and enhance road safety across the country.
At the same time, he urged young people to register for national identity cards, noting that the government’s waiver of fees for first-time registration and ID replacement would make it easier for them to access services and participate in future elections.
He also cautioned the youth against engaging in divisive politics, violence and ethnic polarization, instead encouraging them to champion peace, national unity and responsible leadership.
The Speaker said young people hold the key to Kenya’s future and should actively participate in shaping the country’s political and economic direction.
