Nyamira Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo is set to face the Senate this afternoon, Thursday, November 27, 2025, in what promises to be a dramatic showdown following his impeachment by the County Assembly just a day earlier.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi confirmed that the House will sit at 2:30 p.m. to consider the motion seeking Nyaribo’s removal from office. The sitting follows constitutional and legal provisions, including Article 181 of the Constitution and Section 33(3)(a) of the County Governments Act.
Governor Nyaribo was ousted by 23 of the 31 MCAs present in the County Assembly, with allegations ranging from abuse of office to running “illegal Bunge Mashinani” sittings. Critics also accuse him of misappropriating county funds to favor political allies and making unlawful appointments to key county positions.

The impeachment motion, tabled by Bonyamatuta Ward MCA Julius Kimwomi Matwere, paints a picture of a county rocked by unstable leadership and controversial decisions from October 2024 to June 2025.
All eyes are now on the Senate, where Nyaribo’s political fate hangs in the balance. Will the upper house confirm his removal, or will the governor survive this storm?
