Government to Act Over Criminal Militia Formed by Politicians Ahead of 2022

The government has warned of dire consequences to the politicians recruiting militia groups of ahead of the general elections.

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho while sounding the warning yesterday directed that such criminal gangs should be ruthlessly handled once detected.

While speaking during a church service at Kagio in Kirinyaga West Sub- County, Kirinyaga County Kibicho said it was unfortunate that in every election cycle some politicians were on the ready to hire these gangs to subdue their rivals.

“As the PS in charge of Internal Security I wish to direct County Commissioners and their teams to ensure any signs of the emergence of these criminal gangs politicians hire were crushed at once, “he warned.

A tough-talking Kibicho also urged the Youths in the area including Boda Boda Operators to maintain their dignity by refusing to be misused and exploited by certain politicians.

In the same vein, Kibicho told off certain leaders who keep accusing him and his Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi of engaging in active politics.

He said both he and Matiangi had their jobs clearly cut out and spelled in the constitution but nowhere has this Supreme Law of the Land barred them from participatory politics for the sake of the masses.

“We are also Kenyans and as elitists, we are expected to provide guidance to those not in the know especially our parents whom we must ensure voted in leaders who were genuine and committed to the general welfare of the country, “he explained.

‘Are we not Kenyans, we are stakeholders in this Kenya and we are going nowhere, I have a responsibility to assist the people in decision processing, we will talk today, tomorrow and the day after” Kibicho said

He said they have a God-given responsibility to give them guidance to the making of the right decision.

“You must ask questions, how will we improve the agricultural produce from our area, how will you improve our coffee and tea, if no answers are given, then you should not go for such a candidate: Kibicho told the congregation.

On the ongoing unrest in schools, Kibicho cautioned students engaging in the burning of the facilities they risked carrying a criminal tag throughout their lives once caught.

He said those who will be caught burning school dormitories and classes or any other facilities would from now henceforth be treated as common criminals.
