Former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau has made a fresh political move after being appointed chairman of the Wiper Patriotic Front, a development that signals a shift in his political alignment ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kamau’s appointment places him within the political outfit associated with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, as opposition parties continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 contest.
The former legislator has previously been associated with Rigathi Gachagua’s political camp, making his new role in the Wiper Patriotic Front significant as political realignments gather pace, particularly in the Mt Kenya region.
The appointment was announced through a congratulatory message featuring Kamau, with the Wiper Patriotic Front describing him as its new chairman.
Kamau is a former Member of Parliament for Kigumo and served in government during the administration of retired President Mwai Kibaki. He later became a prominent figure in the Jubilee political formation.
His appointment comes at a time when political parties and leaders are seeking to build alliances and expand their influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
The move could also provide Wiper with a stronger foothold in Mt Kenya, where different political formations are competing to win support ahead of the next presidential election.
The development is likely to fuel fresh speculation over the emerging alliance between Kalonzo Musyoka and leaders from the Mt Kenya region, as the 2027 political realignment takes shape.
