President William Ruto has emphasized the critical role of peace and stability in fostering investment, business, and trade within the East African Community (EAC).
Speaking during the 25th anniversary celebrations of the EAC in Arusha, Tanzania, President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to advancing peace initiatives across the region.
“Peace and stability are critical pillars in guaranteeing investment, business, and trade in the EAC. It is, therefore, our collective effort to ensure security reigns in our region,” he said.
Highlighting Kenya’s role in regional peace efforts, President Ruto noted significant progress in South Sudan, where Kenya has invested heavily in ensuring stability. He expressed optimism about achieving lasting peace in the country, which has faced prolonged conflict.
In addition to South Sudan, Kenya is collaborating with other EAC partner states to promote stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Horn of Africa.
President Ruto stressed the importance of stability in the DRC and Somalia, citing their critical role in the economic growth and prosperity of the region.
Kenya’s contributions to peace and security were lauded as pivotal in strengthening the EAC’s agenda for regional integration and economic collaboration. The celebrations in Arusha brought together regional leaders and stakeholders to reflect on the EAC’s achievements and chart a path toward a more unified and prosperous future.
“Kenya remains committed to stability and will continue supporting efforts that enhance trade and economic growth in the region,” President Ruto concluded.
