Newly elected officials of the Kenya International Freight Forwarders Association (KIFWA) Mombasa branch got a reprieve after a Mombasa high court judge declined to grant two former branch officials relief order against their election.
Justice Jairus Ngaah rejected their ex-parte application filed under certificate of urgency seeking a repeat of last May’s elections ruling that their petition was not urgent.
Ousted chairman Rajab Hamisi and his former vice chairman Musa Mbira are disputing the election of Leonard Njiru as chairman and Mary June as his vice chair arguing that the two were not legally elected.
The petitioners under Del Ray Cargo Services Limited and Bridge Ventures Limited suffered a major blow after Justice Ngaah declined to order a repeat of the KIFWA election through a special general meeting.
They alleged the association’s March branch election was not free, fair and credible.
They challenged the election of the new KIFWA Mombasa branch officials under the stewardship of Leonard Njiru.
Justice Ngaah however, ruled that he was not satisfied the petition filed against the new KIFWA branch officials under certificate of urgency was urgent.
He directed the applicants be served for direction on the matter of its disposal on May 19.
