TikTok has become one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in Kenya, offering creators an opportunity to earn money by creating engaging content. From comedians and dancers to educators and entrepreneurs, many Kenyans are now using the platform to build their personal brands and generate income.

Although some of TikTok’s monetization features are still being introduced across different countries, Kenyan creators can already make money through brand partnerships, TikTok LIVE gifts, affiliate marketing, and by promoting their own businesses. Sponsored content remains the biggest source of income, with companies increasingly partnering with creators who have active and engaged audiences.
To qualify for most monetization programs, creators must be at least 18 years old, follow TikTok’s Community Guidelines, and have an account in good standing. Some programs, such as the Creator Rewards Program, also require at least 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and original videos that are at least one minute long.
How much a creator earns depends on several factors, including follower count, engagement rate, content quality, and niche. Beginners may earn between KSh 5,000 and KSh 30,000 per month through sponsored posts and affiliate marketing, while established creators can make KSh 150,000 to over KSh 500,000 monthly from brand deals and other commercial opportunities.
Content experts advise aspiring creators to focus on consistency rather than chasing viral videos. Posting original content regularly, engaging with followers, and choosing a specific niche can significantly improve visibility and increase earning potential.
As Kenya’s digital creator economy continues to expand, TikTok is expected to play an even bigger role in helping young people earn an income online. For creators willing to invest time and creativity, the platform offers a growing opportunity to turn content creation into a profitable career.
