Afisa wa polisi mwenye umri wa miaka 52 anashukiwa kujiua katika nyumba yake jijini Nairobi.

Sajenti mwandamizi Elias Kirimo alipatikana amekufa Ijumaa jioni.

Kirimo aliambatanishwa na Kurugenzi ya Uchunguzi wa Makosa ya Jinai ya Parklands.

Wenzake walisema alikuwa amejinyonga kwenye birika la dirishani kwa kutumia kipande cha kitambaa.

Polisi walisema wanachunguza tukio hilo.

Afisa huyo alikuwa peke yake nyumbani kwake.

Wanawe wawili walimkuta bila mwendo, wakamfungua na wakajaribu kumfufua bila mafanikio.

Mwili ulihamishiwa katika chumba cha kuhifadhi maiti cha Hospitali ya Chuo Kikuu cha Kenyatta.

Mkuu wa polisi wa Kasarani Peter Mwazo alisema kuwa sababu hiyo haijulikani.

Makumi ya maafisa wa polisi wamekufa kama matokeo ya kujiua katika hali ambayo inahusishwa na mafadhaiko kazini.

Kama sehemu ya juhudi za kushughulikia hali hiyo, mamlaka ya polisi imezindua huduma za ushauri nasaha na Tume ya Huduma ya Polisi ya Kitaifa imeanzisha kitengo na kukihudumia ili kushughulikia hali yao ya kudai.

Kitengo cha ushauri nasaha, kati ya mambo mengine, kitatathmini, kubuni na kuongoza programu ya kufikia ambayo inasaidia kuzuia afya ya akili na utumiaji wa dawa za kulevya.

Angalau kesi tatu za kujiua zinazohusisha maafisa wa polisi zinarekodiwa kila mwezi.

Kwa kuongezea, itasaidia wateja na familia zilizoathiriwa na afya ya akili, unyanyasaji wa dawa za kulevya na kiwewe na njia za kushinda shida.
