Very few people know what spouses of their leaders do for a living and especially if their representatives are ladies.
Maragua member of parliament Mary Waithera is popularly known as Wamaua is married to a mechanic who works at the small town of Saba Saba next to Kenol town in Murang’a County.
What people don’t know is that Maua is the name of the husband and the wife opted to use it while she joined politics in 2013.
According to locals. Maua who has been supporting his wife for the second term operates just opposite Saba Saba dispensary and airport ground.
The tallest building where he operates has two floors and the rent for a single room goes for between Ksh 200 and Ksh 2000 while a double one will cost you about Ksh 2500 inclusive of electricity.
The center is also known for the high sale of bhang which has since escalated as the area OCS was recently transferred after arresting the son of a powerful leader.
He has been in the mechanic business for more than two decades.
His wife was a teacher at Saba Saba Primary school as well as Maganjo primary before she resigned and start constructing roads.
“Maua is well known to people in Saba Saba, Maragua, Kaharati, and Makuyu, he has been in this business long before her wife become a member of parliament,” he said.
He added that most of the government vehicles are repaired at his garage and his relationship with governor Mwangi Wa Iria is intact.
Her wife is now seeking second term re-election and now the husband has been holding grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2022 election.
